LINE CHANGE: For the first time in her 648 games on the bench over 21 years, head coach Jennifer Rizzotti implemented a five-in, five-out substitution strategy on Sunday at VCU. The result was all 10 players playing between 17 and 22 minutes and no player scoring in double figures.
Overall, GW had its best shooting game against an A-10 foe (46.8%) and its third-best rebounding day by margin (+3) in conference play. The starting five combined for 29 points and shot 50% from the floor, while the second five scored 27 points and hit 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.
LEVITATE: Junior Lexus Levy earned her first career start on Sunday at VCU and made the most of her opportunity with a season-high nine points on 3-of-5 shooting. She was also on the floor at the end of the game, drilling the game-winning free throws with 9.8 seconds remaining.
Levy, who is now a perfect 4-of-4 at the line this year, had not attempted a free throw since Nov. 10 vs. Princeton.
HISTORY VS. LA SALLE: GW has dominated the all-time series with the Explorers, winning 37 of the 42 all-time matchups, including six straight. The Buff & Blue won the only meeting a year ago, 67-59, in Philadelphia, behind a career-high 22 points from Neila Luma. Last year's matchup was the first in GW's current six-game winning streak to be decided by fewer than 10 points.
A LOOK AT THE EXPLORERS: La Salle has implemented a 3-point heavy attack this season with 43 percent of its total field goal attempts coming from beyond the arc. Overall, though, the Explorers are last in the league in field goal percentage (34.9%) and have shot just 27.7% from deep in league play, leading to its 3-7 record against A-10 teams. Freshman Claire Jacobs is the team's top scorer at 13.2 ppg, increasing her output to 15.2 ppg in conference play. Sophomore Kayla Spruill (12.4 ppg) gives La Salle two players in double figures vs. A-10 foes, followed by a pair of first-years in Jordon Lewis (8.3) and Amy Jacobs (6.1).
All three of La Salle's A-10 wins have come when the team has scored 67 or more points. Overall, the Explorers are 9-2 when hitting that mark and 0-11 when failing to reach it.
