The Colonials are in fourth place and just four shots off the lead through the first of three rounds
ORLANDO -- On a day that featured a two-hour rain delay and high winds, the GW golf team endured the difficult conditions to post a +13 round as a team that leaves them just four shots off the lead through one round of the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Â
Junior Adrian Castagnola led the Colonials with a 1-over par 73, mixing three birdies and four bogeys to sit in a tie for fourth place. Senior Logan Lowe is just a shot behind his teammate at 2-over, while first-year Logan Othmer makes it three Colonials in the top 20 after his 4-over 76.
Â
Just two golfers in the field of 55 finished in red figures, while no school recorded a team score under par. Davidson has the lead at +9, followed by VCU and Saint Joseph's at +10, with the Colonials fourth at +13. Defending champion Jack Lang drove Davidson to the team lead with a 4-under 68 that gives him a three-shot lead over Wills Montgomery of Saint Joseph's.
Â
The tournament resumes with round two Saturday morning from Grand Cypress Golf Club. GW's tee times are from 9:00-9:36 a.m. with live scoring available here.Â

TEAM SCORE: 301 (+13)
