Women’s Tennis Sends Two to 2018 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Tennis Championships

Siopacha and Bayraktaroglu set to represent GW at ITA tournament
SERVING FIRST: George Washington women's tennis' Maria Siopacha and Melis Bayraktaroglu will represent the Colonials at the 2018 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Tennis Championships starting on Saturday, September 29 at Pepperdine University.
FORMAT: For the 34th consecutive year, the 2018 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Tennis Championships invites the nation's top Division I women's players to compete for the All-American national title. In addition to vying for the All-American crown, players will be competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11, in Surprise, Arizona. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.
Siopacha will first compete in the singles prequalifying draw before teaming up with Bayraktaroglu to pair up for the prequalifying draw of doubles. GW is the only Atlantic 10 school that will be represented at the elite tournament.
SIOPACHA IN SOLO ACTION: Siopacha is set to represent the Colonials in singles play after competing at the Oracle ITA Masters last weekend. The senior is coming off of a standout junior campaign, where she was named the 2018 A-10 Co-Performer of the Year and earned a spot in the ITA regional rankings at the Atlantic's No. 19 player. The Limassol, Cyprus, native, finished the spring season with a 19-9 record playing exclusively at the No. 1 position and ended the 2017-18 season on an eight-match win streak, including a 4-0 mark against conference opponents.
PERFECT PAIR: Siopacha and Bayraktaroglu will pair up for doubles action after posting a 2-1 mark at the Bedford Cup, GW's first tournament of the fall season. In 2017-18, the pair went 11-6 and also won six of their last seven matches.
