Siopacha Wraps Up Play at Oracle ITA Masters

Senior represents Atlantic 10 in elite tournament
MALIBU, Calif. – George Washington women's tennis senior Maria Siopacha completed her weekend at the Oracle ITA Masters on Sunday.
The Oracle ITA Masters is one of the premier events on the collegiate tennis calendar that features the top tennis athletes in the country. Invitations were sent out to one man and one woman from each Division I conference to participate. Siopacha, along with Dayton's Jordan Benjamin, were chosen to represent the Atlantic 10 at the elite tournament.
Siopacha kicked off the tournament with mixed doubles action, pairing up with Benjamin to face the duo of Baylor's Johannes Schretter and North Carolina's Makenna Jones. The Atlantic 10 pair put up a fight, but fell, 6-1.
In singles play, Siopacha faced the No. 9 seeded player, Lauren Proctor from Winthrop. The Limassol, Cyprus, native pushed Proctor, but ultimately dropped the match, 6-3, 6-0.
Siopacha pushed Austin Peay's Lidia Yanes Garcia in the consolation bracket by forcing a third set, but ultimately fell, 7-5, 1-6, 6-0.
