Tennis Routs Howard for Sixth Win

The George Washington tennis team picked up its sixth win of the spring season, taking down Howard, 6-1, at SETLC on Thursday morning. GW improves to 6-7 on the year with five matches to play in the regular season.

The Revolutionaries set the tone early with a sweep in doubles. GW's first doubles pairing of Madison Lee and Karen Verduzco started things off with a 6-3 win, while Solange Skeene and Victoria Sasinka earned a 6-2 victory in the second flight. First-years Alexandra Lindqvist and Devika Manu finished off the sweep with a 6-4 win in the fourth flight. Skeene and Sasinka remain GW's top pairing this season, holding a 9-4 record in doubles thus far.

Skeene dominated in singles as well, rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 win in the first flight. Lee earned a 6-0, 6-2 dub in third singles, while Lindqvist picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the fourth spot. Verduzco went 6-7, 6-4, 10-3 in the fifth flight, while Manu rounded out the win with a 6-1, 6-3 showing in sixth. Howard's lone point of the match came in second singles via a 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 win.

GW will get 10 days off before its next match, traveling to Longwood on March 29. Match time is set for 10:00 a.m. in Farmville, Va.
