BRONX, N.Y. - Senior Isaiah Pasteur set the program record with a hit in his 25th consecutive game and the George Washington baseball team rallied to knock off Fordham, 5-3, in 11 innings on Friday afternoon at Houlihan Park.
Pasteur wasted no time in making history. He led off the top of the first with a base hit to break Joey Bartosic's record. He finished the day 3-for-6 at the plate with a double and one run.
Sophomore Jaret Edwards was in total control in the early going, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning. He did not factor into the decision but produced an impressive final line of 8.1 innings, five hits, three runs (only one earned), one walk and two strikeouts.
Junior Will Kobos earned the win out of the bullpen with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed only two hits and struck out two with three walks.
Fordham erased a 1-0 deficit with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Colonials regained the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth.
The Rams forced extra innings in the bottom of the ninth, but GW held the home team scoreless after the ninth before plating the winning runs in the top of the 11th.
Sophomore Nate Fassnacht finished 4-for-5 at the plate with one run and one walk.
Steven Barmakian, Mark Osis and Dominic D'Alessandro each contributed a pair of hits.
