BOCA RATON, Fla. - The George Washington baseball team opened the 2018 season on Friday night but fell in a 3-0 decision to Florida Atlantic.

Key Stats

Junior Dominic D'Alessandro impressed in his GW debut, finishing 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a walk.
Unfortunately, D'Alessandro's base knocks were the only hits of the day for the Colonial offense.
Junior Isaiah Pasteur represented GW's only other baserunner in the game. He walked and stole a base in three at-bats.
Junior Pat Knight got the start for the Colonials but took the loss. He allowed two earned runs on one hit and three walks over three innings of work. He also struck out a pair.
GW's bullpen combined for five innings of one-run ball, yielding only an unearned run.
Sophomore Jaret Edwards struck out four over three innings of work and allowed an unearned run.
Senior Tyler Swiggart closed out the game with 1.2 innings of shutout relief with three strikeouts.

Scoring

FAU plated a pair of runs bottom in the third after a hit by pitch and walk put two on with two outs. Pedro Pages followed with a two-run double to give the Owls an early 2-0 lead.
FAU scored again in the bottom of the fourth when a throwing error allowed a runner to score from third base.
