Women’s Tennis Concludes Play at ITA Regionals

Colonials wrap up action at penultimate fall tournament
LYNCHBURG – The George Washington women's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship over the weekend.
In singles action, Maria Siopacha and Melis Bayraktaroglu fell in the first round of the singles main bracket, but Siopacha defeated Maryland's Katsiaryna Yemelyanko in a consolation match, 8-4, to finish the weekend 1-1.
Sara Grubac represented the Buff and Blue in the singles qualifying bracket, but also dropped her match in the first round before besting two of her opponents in the consolation. Victoria Kogan also picked up a victory in an extra match, topping Maryland's Anastasia Gevel, 6-3, 1-6, 10-7.
In doubles play, both GW pairs dropped their matches in the opening round.
The Colonials will be back in action on November 9 when they travel to Miami for the FIU Invite.
