GW Baseball Resumes A-10 Schedule at Davidson

LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team returns to action with a three-game series at Davidson this weekend at Wilson Field. Friday's series opener is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by a 2:00 p.m. start on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
ATOP THE A-10: GW continues to rank in the top-three of team batting in the Atlantic 10 as the Colonials boast a team batting average of .280 entering the weekend. Junior Mark Osis ranks second overall in the conference with a .389 batting average while junior Kevin Mahala paces the A-10 and ranks sixth nationally with 14 doubles.
Other top-five individual rankings include junior Joey Bartosic (3rd with 24 runs and t-4th with nine stolen bases), Mahala (2nd with 28 RBIs) and junior Bobby Campbell (t-4th with 10 doubles).
LAST MEETING: The Colonials suffered a tough, season-ending loss to Davidson by a score of 2-1 in last year's Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal. Sophomore Brady Renner was on the mound for the Colonials in his debut season and fanned a career-high 10 batters before allowing a pair of runs, on a bloop single and home run, in the top of the eighth inning. GW attempted to rally in the ninth but the tying run was stranded on second base to end the game.
SCOUTING DAVIDSON: The Wildcats are 16-13 overall with a 4-2 mark in Atlantic 10 play after taking two-of-three games at Saint Joseph's last weekend. Jake Sidwell paces the offense with a .320 batting average along with three doubles and 20 RBIs.
Friday's starter, Clark Beeker, is 6-0 on the season with a 1.67 ERA and has allowed just 10 earned runs with 40 strikeouts across 54.0 innings.
