GW Baseball Drops Middle Game at Davidson, 7-4

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Three players recorded multiple hits but the George Washington baseball team was unable to clinch the series as Davidson rallied for a 7-4 win on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.
The rubber match will be played on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. when sophomore Brady Renner (0-0, 0.00 ERA) takes the mound for the Colonials.
GW (12-20, 3-2 A-10) scored twice in the top of the first with junior Joey Bartosic walking, stealing second and scoring on an error for a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, junior Andrew Selby delivered a RBI to put GW on top 2-0.
Davidson responded with a sacrifice fly and two-run double in the bottom of the first to take a 3-2 lead.
Bartosic's sacrifice fly in the top of the second tied the game at 3-3, but the Wildcats then scored on a wild pitch in the third to take a 4-3 lead.
The teams traded runs in the fifth with the Colonials tying the game at 4-4 on a RBI single by junior Bobby Campbell. Davidson answered in the bottom half with a RBI double to regain a 5-4 lead.
Davidson added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run single by Andrew Born. The bullpen then turned away the Colonials in the final three innings to secure the win.
Campbell (2-for-4, one RBI), junior Eli Kashi (2-for-4, one run) and Selby (2-for-4, one RBI) all finished with multiple hits for GW.
Durin O'Linger earned the win for Davidson while junior Shane Sweeney took the loss with seven earned runs on 11 hits across five innings. Senior Luke Olson came out of the bullpen for three shutout innings in relief.
