Baseball Falls in Series Finale at George Mason

The George Washington baseball team fell in its series finale matchup with George Mason on Sunday afternoon by a score of 6-5. GW drops to 17-29 overall and 9-15 in Atlantic 10 games this season.

George Mason jumped ahead early, using a sacrifice fly in the first and an RBI groundout in the second to take a 2-0 advantage over the Buff & Blue. GW answered back in the fourth, getting on the board with an RBI single to right field from Josh Wenz, scoring Charlie Walsh. Brodie Freker tied the game up later in the inning, singling to left field to drive in Wenz. Jack Kent gave GW its first lead of the afternoon in that same inning with a third RBI single of the frame to score Wenz.

After GMU tied the game in the fifth and tacked on three more in the seventh to go ahead 6-3, GW wasn't done at the plate. Nick Mullen ripped an RBI double into left field, scoring Cristino Tufano, to make it 6-4. GW got within one, scoring on a wild pitch later in the inning, but the Revolutionaries' offense couldn't tie the game up again in the final inning.

Declan Wywoda was charged with the loss for GW, dropping him to 2-4, after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing six earned runs. Jonas Aponick tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in relief out of GW's bullpen.

The Revolutionaries return to Tucker Field for the team's final midweek game of the 2026 season, hosting James Madison at 3:00 p.m.Â
