LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team will compete in its final non-conference series of the season when it visits reigning American Athletic Conference (AAC) champion Houston for a three-game series at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
ON THE MARK: Sophomore Mark Osis continues to pace the Colonials' offense, leading the team with a .392 batting average through 21 games. He has totaled two doubles, two triples and 15 runs scored in addition to driving in 12 RBIs.
STREAKING SELBY: Junior Andrew Selby singled against Georgetown on Tuesday to extend his current reached-base streak to 20 consecutive games.
SCOUTING HOUSTON: Houston enters the weekend series with a 13-7 overall record, including a 10-3 mark on its home field. The Cougars are coming off their second consecutive 40-win season, an AAC regular-season title and an appearance at NCAA Regionals.
The Cougars boast a team batting average of .276 and have combined to hit 17 home runs across the season's first 20 games, while the pitching staff boasts a 2.49 team ERA.
AROUND THE A-10: The rest of the league will open conference play this weekend. Opening-weekend series include Saint Joseph's at Richmond, Rhode Island at George Mason, Saint Louis at Dayton, Massachusetts at Davidson and St. Bonaventure at VCU.
