GW Baseball Hosts Georgetown on Tuesday

LEADING OFF: The George Washington baseball team returns home for a midweek contest against District rival Georgetown on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park.
LAST TIME OUT: GW dropped two of three games at Charleston Southern over the weekend. The Colonials won the middle game of the series, 10-5, behind strong performances from juniors Bobby Campbell (3-for-4, one home run, one double, four RBIs) and Kevin Mahala (2-for-5, two doubles, two runs, two RBIs).
DISTRICT SUPREMACY: The Colonials won both meetings against Georgetown last season and holds an 11-3 record against local teams. In addition a 2-0 record against the Hoyas, GW picked up wins over Maryland (1-0 record), Towson (2-0), Mount St. Mary's (2-0), UMBC (1-1), Coppin State (1-0), George Mason (1-2) and UMES (1-0).
MASHING MAHALA: Mahala leads the nation with 13 doubles and paces the Atlantic 10 with 23 RBIs. Through 20 games this season he is batting .314 with two home runs and 15 runs scored. Of his 27 hits this season, 16 have been for extra bases.
HOT HITTERS: The Colonials are batting .300 as a team this season, which ranks second overall in the Atlantic 10. Five different players are hitting at a .300 clip or better. Sophomore Mark Osis leads the way with a team-best .387 average. Junior Andrew Selby ranks second with a .365 batting average, junior Joey Bartosic is batting .326 from the leadoff spot and sophomore Robbie Metz is batting .324.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN: The Hoyas enter Tuesday's game with a 10-10 overall record after suffering a three-game sweep over the weekend to Princeton. Georgetown is batting .266 as a team and is led by Michael Derenzi (.362, four doubles) and Jake Kuzbel (.269, five doubles, one home run, 16 RBIs).
