Baseball Honors Perlozzo, Powers Past Saint Louis, 13-4

Behind 12 hits, including three home runs, the George Washington baseball team cruised to a 13-4 win over Saint Louis on the day program legend Sam Perlozzo became the second player all-time to have his jersey number honored at Tucker Field.
Joined by his family, friends and former teammates on the field, Perlozzo's No. 4 was officially recognized at Tucker Field pregame, joining Hank Bunnell as the only two players in program history to have their jersey numbers displayed on the left field wall. Perlozzo is the only alum in program history to serve as an MLB Manager, doing so with the Baltimore Orioles from 2005-07.
After a slow offensive game from each team on Friday, the pace picked up quickly with both squads tallying two runs apiece in the first. After the Billikens tallied two in the top of the inning, GW pulled back to even with bases-loaded walks from Charlie Walsh and Conlon Walker.
Neither team scored again until the fifth, when Walsh drove in two on a double to center field, giving GW its first lead of the weekend. Nick Mullen extended the advantage later in the inning via an RBI single to first base, giving GW a 5-2 advantage.
The Billikens tallied one in the seventh, but GW answered back in the bottom of the inning, erupting for five runs of its own. Robbie Lavey got the frame started with a solo home run, followed up by a three-run bomb from Walker. Charlie Rogan gave GW its fifth run of the inning with a solo shot just inside the right field foul pole.
Cristino Tufano ripped an RBI single through the left side to extend GW's lead to 11-3 in the eighth. Rogan cleared the bases later in the inning with a two-RBI double for GW's 12th and 13th runs of the day.
Andrew Cutler got things back on track after two early runs, tossing 6.0 innings and striking out six. Cutler earned his fourth win of the season, moving to 4-1 in 2026. Colin Lebel tossed 3.0 innings in relief, securing his fifth save of the year.
Both teams return to The Tuck tomorrow for the series rubber match scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
