GW Baseball Opens A-10 Schedule Versus Saint Joseph's

GW (6-11) won 15 conference games last season, the most since winning 17 games in 2004, and earned the No. 5 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
The Colonials last faced Saint Joseph's (8-6) in 2012, falling in two-of-three games at Barcroft Park.
GW has the fourth-ranked pitching staff in the Atlantic 10 entering the weekend with a team ERA of 4.19. Two pitchers in the Colonials' weekend rotation, Jacob Williams and Bobby LeWarne, have earned A-10 Pitcher of the Week honors this season. LeWarne was honored on Monday for his complete game, one-hit shutout over Monmouth last Sunday.
Senior Owen Beightol leads the Colonials with a .333 batting average and six multiple-hit games through the first 17 games of 2014. The Richmond, Va., native also leads the team in slugging percentage (.491), on-base percentage (.412), runs scored (12), home runs (2) and walks (7).
Freshman Bobby Campbell, the current Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, is batting .315 with a team-best nine RBIs while junior Ryan Xepoleas is tied for fourth in the A-10 with six doubles and is batting .303 from the leadoff position.
Sophomore Jacob Williams (2-1, 1.85 ERA, 24.1 IP, 7 K) will start Friday's contest for the Colonials followed by senior Aaron Weisberg (0-3, 4.38 ERA, 24.2 IP, 19 K) on Saturday and reigning Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week Bobby LeWarne (1-2, 2.45 ERA, 22.0 IP, 21 K) on Sunday.
Saint Joseph's has won three of its last four games, most recently a 14-4 win over Monmouth on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks are led at the plate by Brian O'Keefe, who leads the Atlantic 10 with a .417 batting average in addition to three home runs and 15 RBIs.
Saint Joseph's is batting .285 as a team, ranking second in the conference, and has a team ERA of 4.72 entering the weekend (6th in A-10).
