Colonials Rout Bonnies 12-5 To Win Sixth Straight

ARLINGTON, VA - The George Washington University baseball team once again broke out the bats early to down St. Bonaventure 12-5 at Barcroft Park Friday afternoon. The Colonials win helped them remain perfect in A-10 conference play at 5-0, with a chance for their second straight conference sweep coming Sunday afternoon.
The Colonials were once against paced by senior Tom Zebroski, who recorded two hits and drew three walks from the top spot in the order. Zebroski moved his batting average to a team-high .432 on the season and also drove in three in the contest. Junior Brendon Kelliher also recorded three hits in the contest and scored two runs from the fifth spot.
On the mound, junior Joe Richardson went seven innings to pick up his fifth win on the season and remain a perfect 5-0. The Mission Viejo, CA native allowed five earned runs and struck out a batter. Freshman Kenny O'Brien pitched the last two innings for George Washington and didn't allow an earned run. O'Brien has now started the season with 6 2/3 shutout innings out of the bullpen.
The Colonials scored three runs in the first and third innings to take a commanding 6-1 lead after three frames in the game. Both teams traded runs in the fifth innings, but the Colonials blew the game open with four runs in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 11-2 after six complete. The Bonnies were able to score three runs in the seventh on a Jesse Bosnik home run, but the Colonials held on for the 12-5 final score.
George Washington will wrap up the three-game set with the Bonnies on Sunday, April 3rd at Barcroft Park, which first pitch set for 12:00 p.m. Junior Eric Cantrell is scheduled to pitch for the Colonials.
