Cantrell's 16 Strikeouts Pace 7-2 Win Over Dayton

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University baseball team won the final game of a three-game set against the Dayton Flyers on Sunday 7-2 behind a career day by junior pitcher Eric Cantrell. Cantrell struck out 16 Flyer batters to set a new-career high and improve the Colonials to 7-2 in A-10 conference play. The effort was also a complete game effort to improve to 5-1 on the season.
The offense was led by senior Chris Holland who went 3-4 and drove in a pair of runs. Senior Tom Zebroski also drove in two runs and also scored two of his own in the victorious effort. Redshirt senior Chris Luick also recorded two hits to aid the Colonial attack.
With the win the Colonials remain a half game behind first place Charlotte for first place in the A-10 conference.
The Colonials now will return home to host mid-week games against Towson on Tuesday and Georgetown on Wednesday. Both games will have a first pitch at 3:00 p.m. The Colonials will then resume A-10 conference play next weekend when they travel to Richmond for a three-game set.
