BUIES CREEK, NC -- The George Washington golf team placed 14th in the 15-team field at the Lonnie D. Small Spring Classic, Monday and Tuesday, at the 6,703-yard, par-72 Keith Hills Country Club. The tournament was won by host Campbell University for the second straight year.
Radford's Josh Meador won medalist honors with a four-under-par 140 defeating a pair of runner-ups by three strokes. GW's Tim Johnson shot rounds of 78 on Monday and even-par 72 on Tuesday to tie for 18th place among 82 individuals. Johnson tied for 76th place in this event last year.
GW freshman Cole Turner tied for 44th with a 157 while senior Bob Rohr and freshman Michael Perlmutter tied for 59th, each with a two-round 160.
GW was one of three Atlantic 10 Conference teams in the field. Richmond took sixth place with a team total 609 (+33) while Dayton finished last with a 658 (+82).
The Colonials' next competition is Mar. 16 when they meet the University of New Orleans at the TPC of Louisiana at 1:00 p.m.
