GW Baseball Announces Two Signees
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 25, 2001) - The George Washington University baseball team has signed two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2002 season, head baseball coach Tom Walter announced today.
With the two additions joining the team, coach Walter has added depth to a team that will see six seniors depart after the 2001 season.
The two student-athletes are: Billy Powell, 1B/DH, 6'2, 220, Dallas, TX/ Greenhill High School " Billy is an above average power hitter who should put up big numbers in the Atlantic 10. Billy is an intelligent, hard-working and dedicated multi-sport athlete who will have a great career at GW. We are very excited about having Billy at GW," Walter said.
Daniel Sullivan, LHP, 6'3, 205, Stony Point, NY/ North Rockland High School " Dan is an outstanding left handed pitching prospect and we feel he is a major sleeper. He comes from an fantastic baseball community, which should help him make the jump to the col lege level. Dan has fabulous high school numbers and went 10-0 in American Legion this past summer. He is a great addition to our pitching staff and will do great things on the mound for years to come." Walter said.
The Colonials are currently 33-19 overall and 13-9 and in fourth place in the Atlantic 10.
