MLB Drafts Three Colonials; Conden Honored

Belicic, a junior lefthanded pitcher and designated hitter, was selected by the Anaheim Angels organization in the 33rd round. He was a second team All-Conference pick with a 9-4 record in 15 starts. He had a 3.73 earned-run average in 99 innings with 81 strikeouts.
Walker, a senior outfielder/first baseman who transferred to GW from South Carolina, was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 37th round. He was a first team All-Conference member with a .410 batting average in all 58 games. Walker had 13 home runs, 14 doubles and 72 RBIs. His father, Tom, played two seasons for the Tigers as well as for the Montreal Expos and St. Louis Cardinals.
Mitchell, a junior catcher, was picked by the Cincinnati Reds in the 42nd round. He was a second team All-A-10 pick batting .256 in 51 games.
Conden, a righthanded pitcher, was one of 12 pitchers named to the Freshman All-America team by Collegiate Baseball. He was the Atlantic 10's Pitcher of the Year and the A-10 Rookie of the Year and a first team All-Conference selection with a 9-2 record and 3.26 ERA. Conden had 88 strikeouts and 47 walks in 102 innings.
GW (37-21) set a school record for most victories in a season and won a share of the A-10 West Division championship with Virginia Tech in 2000.
