Meagan Carren joined GW Athletics as the Director of Marketing, Strategy, and Fan Engagement in 2021, and was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in 2022. She currently serves as the primary marketing contact for Men’s Basketball, Women’s Gymnastics, Baseball, and Rowing and serves on the Athletic Department’s Senior Staff team. Meagan oversees game day marketing operations, video board production, and show execution for Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Gymnastics, and Baseball. She collaborates with GW's sponsorship company, Bullpen Strategy, to plan and execute programs and assets that contribute to corporate partner growth and retention. Meagan oversees the workflow and project management for GW Athletics’ creative content teams, managing over 600 marketing design and video requests a year. She also serves as the staff advisor for GW’s student fan group, George’s Army.Â
Meagan came to GW after working in George Mason University's Athletic Department as the Marketing Coordinator (2018-2019) and the Director of Marketing (2019-2021). She oversaw all marketing and promotional efforts for 22 Division I sports, and managed a team of marketing interns. While at Mason, Meagan served as the Athletics’ representative for George Mason University’s Trademark Licensing Advisory Board, and was the designated approver for all usage of Mason Athletics’ logos and marks.
Meagan has been a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) since 2018. In 2022, Meagan was selected to participate in NACMA’s inaugural Mid-Managers Cohort. In 2023, GW’s marketing department earned a NAMCA ‘Best Of’ Gold Award in the gameday promotion category for the department’s annual "Miracle on 22nd Street" Tailgate.Â
Meagan is a graduate of George Mason University with a degree in Sport Management. She recently graduated with her masters in Sport Industry Management from West Virginia University.Â
