George Rodriguez enters his fourth season as head coach of the GW women's tennis program in 2025-26.
Through his first three seasons, Rodriguez has continued to grow the program, helping student-athletes develop both on the court and in the classroom. Rodriguez has guided GW to 21 victories throughout his first three years, earning the nine-seed in both the 2024 and 2025 A-10 Championship.
Under Rodriguez's tutelage, he's seen Stella Wiesemann and Gabriella Giraldo each earn first team all-conference accolades in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Along with that, the tennis program finished with the highest team GPA of any other program at GW with a combined 3.88 during the 2023-24 school year.
Before arriving in Foggy Bottom, Rodriguez spent two seasons as the head coach for the men's and women's tennis programs at Fresno Pacific University. In 2022, Rodriguez led the women's team to a 16-10 championship season record, finishing third in the PacWest Tournament, the highest finish in program history. The finish sent the Sunbirds to the West Regional final and a No. 33 national ranking following the season.
Rodriguez coached the 2022 Sunbirds to four major West Region awards, including being named the Wilson ITA Coach of the Year. In addition, the team earned the ITA Community Service Award, Maria Borodii was named the ITA's Most Improved Senior and Sanne Brull received the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
In his first season at FPU, Rodriguez led the women's program to a sixth-place finish at the PacWest Championship after a 7-10 regular season record.
Prior to his time with the Sunbirds, Rodriguez spent two years as the Director of Tennis at the Premier Athletic and Tennis Club in Grandville, Mich.
Rodriguez also served as the assistant coach and interim head coach at Grand Valley State. He was named the ITA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019 after helping both the men's and women's programs to national rankings.
A graduate of Ferris State University, Rodriguez was a four-year member of the Bulldogs' men's tennis program, helping the team to a GLIAC Conference Championship in his senior season.
