"We are very lucky to have Nerissa join the coaching staff," said Coach Schramm. "Her passion is not just in playing the game, but also analyzing and studying the game while building players to be the best at the game. I know my team and coaching staff will benefit greatly from working with her."
Myers will work primarily with the infielders and hitters, including lefty slappers as well.
Myers comes to GW after serving as a graduate manager for her alma mater, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she assisted with practice planning, chart keeping and practice activities for the team.
As a student-athlete, Myers was a four-year standout for the Ragin' Cajuns, setting the program's all-time record for career runs scored (243) during her tenure. In 2012, Myers led the nation in runs scored (83) en route to an NFCA Division I All-America nod and her second consecutive NFCA All-Region recognition. The Petal, Mississippi, native landed on the All-Sun Belt Conference list from 2011-13 and appeared on the National Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List in 2013. A team captain in 2013, Myers helped her squad to NCAA Tournament berths all four seasons of her career and led the Ragin' Cajuns to three Super Regional appearances (2010, 2012, 2013).
Since her graduation in 2013, Myers has competed for the Akron Racers in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league as a shortstop and designated player. In 2014, Myers was named an All-NPF selection while garnering Offensive Player of the Year honors. In 2015, Myers led the league with 31 RBIs and was tied for second with nine home runs while ranking eighth in the NPF with a .311 batting average.
"I am extremely excited to be working with this program," said Myers. "I have heard a lot of great things about GW softball, and I can't wait to begin working with these talented student-athletes."
