WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball heads to Pittsburgh, the site of this year's Atlantic 10 Championship, for its annual meeting with Duquesne. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday with coverage on ESPN+.
STEPPING UP INSIDE
Luke Hunger has started the last two games in place of the injured Rafael Castro and has averaged 9.0 ppg, 6.5 rpg while playing 26.4 mpg. Hunger narrowly missed his third double-double of the season on Wednesday at Saint Joseph's, tallying 11 points and nine rebounds (six offensive) while playing a career-high 30:43.STEPPING UP INSIDE
Hunger has now reached double figures six times this year after having done so just three times in 58 career games at Northwestern, where he started his career prior to transferring this season. The Montreal, Quebec native has set career-highs in every statistical category and tallied a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play vs. UMBC and St. Mary's (MD).
SWITCHING THINGS UP
Due in part to injuries, but also due to the expected depth of the team, George Washington has employed eight different starting lineups this season. Nine different GW Revs have started at least one game and six have started 10 or more games with only Rafael Castro (21), Trey Autry (22) and Christian Jones (22) starting 20+ games.
A LOOK AT THE DUKES
Duquesne sits at 5-5 in league play following a comeback victory at George Mason on Wednesday, scoring the final 10 points to serve the Patriots their first home loss of the season. The Dukes have gone just 1-4 on their home floor in league play, but that win came on Sunday over Rhode Island, igniting this 2-0 week so far.
Tarance Guinyard pours in 16.1 ppg to lead the way for Duquesne and also adds a league-high 5.5 apg, but did not play in Wednesday's win over Mason. The Dukes were also without the services of leading rebounder Jakub Necas (5.7 rpg). Jimmie Williams (15.9 ppg) and John Hugley IV (11.3) also chip in double figure averages for head coach Dru Joyce III.
The Dukes are top-50 in the country in effective field goal percentage (55.4%) and fast-break points (14.4 per game) and also swipe nearly eight steals per game, third-most in the league.
