Softball Starts 2026 Season at UNCW Tournament

WASHINGTON – GW softball opens the 2026 season this weekend as the Revolutionaries set out for their first games of the Matt Klampert era. GW is traveling to Boseman Field in Wilmington, N.C., for five games at the UNCW Tournament, featuring matchups against Kennesaw State, UNCW and Appalachian State.

RETURNING REVOLUTIONARIES
GW returns 11 student-athletes from its talented 2025 roster, which includes A-10 All-Conference First Team selection Ashley Corpuz and A-10 All-Rookie Team members Kaylee Layfield and Emi Todoroki. The Revolutionaries bring four pitchers back from last year's team that broke the GW single-season strikeout record – Cece Smith, Chloe Greene, Sophia Torreso and Emma Fales. Utility Cadence Gilliland, infielder Daniella Lew, and outfielders Paige Hayward and Katie Hendrickson round out GW's returning talents.

NEW TO GW
The Revolutionaries enter 2026 with four first-year student-athletes: Reese Ferrel (IF), Jazlene Ramos (IF), Sydney Hogue (IF) and Isabella Ruby (C). GW has also welcomed one graduate transfer ahead of the 2026 season, Lucy Goodwin (C), who arrived via Coastal Carolina.

Klampert begins his first season as head coach of the program. He took over last August after serving as Saint Joseph's top assistant in 2025. He's surrounded by a completely new coaching staff: Sierra Lange (assistant coach), Sam Bean (assistant coach), Gabby Polsky (student assistant) and Savannah Fitzpatrick (graduate manager).
