Men's Basketball Visits VCU Tuesday

WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball hits the road on Tuesday for a nationally-televised showdown with VCU. Tip is set for 8 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
HUNGER GAMES
Luke Hunger was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday after posting back-to-back career-highs last week and averaging 26.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg while shooting 68% overall, 80% from 3 and 82.4% at the line in 35.8 mpg across two wins. Hunger has reset his career-high (previously 15) in three straight games with 17 at Duquesne, 21 vs. URI and 31 vs. George Mason.
Emerging as GW's lone traditional big with the absence of Rafael Castro, Hunger has started the last five games and averaged a team-best 17.4 ppg and 8.4 rpg on 58.4% FG (31/53) in 32.5 mpg. Hunger has scored more points in the last five games (87) than he did in 25 games last year at Northwestern (71). Prior to this stretch, Hunger had 29 points and 13 rebounds in 88:48 total over the first eight A-10 games (3.6 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 11.1 mpg).
ARANGUREN'S ARRIVAL
Equally as impressive as Hunger's emergence has been the play of point guard Jean Aranguren, who has averaged 13.0 ppg, 8.8 rpg and 6.5 apg over the last four games, shooting 66.7% (18/27) overall and 85.7% (6/7) from beyond the arc. The Hofstra transfer has posted a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio while playing 32.1 mpg in the last four and has moved into the top 10 in the A-10 in assists (88, 8th) and assists per game (3.4, 9th).
The Venezuela native tallied his third double-double of the year (ninth career) on Friday vs. Mason with 16 points and 10 rebounds, adding six assists, his third-straight game with 6+ helpers.

VCU (20-6, 11-2) enters play on Tuesday as winners of nine in a row following a 78-67 victory at Richmond on Saturday. The Rams only two A-10 losses came back-to-back in early January at home to Saint Louis (71-62) and at George Mason (86-80).
VCU features a balanced attack with 10 different players averaging 10 or more minutes per game. The Rams are fifth nationally with 35.8 bench points per game and are second in the A-10 in scoring offense at 83.5 ppg. Terrence Hill Jr. is the team's leading scorer at 14.7 ppg despite coming off the bench in 24 of the 26 games.
Lazar Djokovic (13.7 ppg) leads the league with 122 free throw makes and 160 free throw attempts, leading the charge for the team ranking 12th nationally in free throw makes and attempts. Jadrian Tracey (10.4 ppg) gives VCU a third double-digit scorer and is one of just two players to have started every game.
