Men's Basketball Battles George Mason Friday Night

WASHINGTON - Part two of the men's basketball Battle of the Georges is set for a Friday night national TV showcase as GW hosts George Mason at 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
Fans are encouraged to wear black for the Blackout game presented by Main Street Bank and the first 1,000 fans will receive black t-shirts. Friday is also DMV Night and Black History Month celebration and GW Hall of Famer Shawnta Rogers will have his #54 jersey honored in a special halftime ceremony.
PLAYING FROM IN FRONT
Tuesday marked GW's fourth wire-to-wire win of its five A-10 victories (and seventh overall), leading for all but 1:58 against URI. In its five A-10 wins, GW has led for 189:36 (94.8%) of the 200 minutes and trailed for only 2:54 (1.45%), all vs. La Salle on 1/3. Conversely in the seven losses, GW has been behind for 158:14 of 280 minutes (56.5%) and only led for 102:07 (36.5%).
Over the course of the season, GW has been in the lead for 87.7% (491:30 of 560 minutes) of the time in its 14 wins. GW holds a 12-5 record when scoring first, is 14-2 when leading at the half and 14-1 when leading with five minutes remaining.
RECORD-SETTING OFFENSE
GW is averaging 83.6 ppg, the third-highest mark in school history and the best since putting up 84.6 ppg in 1968-69. The Buff & Blue are 2.3 ppg off the school record of 85.9 ppg set back in 1952-53 and are on pace to average over 80.0 ppg for the first time since 1999-00 (80.6).
GW is third in the A-10 and 41st nationally in scoring offense, and has shown an improvement of 14.8 ppg compared to last year's group that ranked 195th nationally with 68.8 ppg.

George Mason comes to D.C., with a 21-4 overall mark and a 9-3 A-10 record, sitting in third in the league standings following an 82-70 loss to Richmond on Tuesday. Mason started the season 18-1 (6-0) following its win over GW on Jan. 19, but has since gone 3-3 in its last six outings.
Presbyterian transfer Kory Mincy continues to lead the Patriots with 15.6 ppg, but has been held to nine points total in the last two games on 4-for-18 shooting. Riley Allenspach had a career day with 18 points and 12 rebounds against GW in the first matchup and is second on the team with 13.4 ppg while registering a team-high 6.1 rpg.
During league play, George Mason ranks among the top 3 in defensive efficiency, effective field goal defense, 2-point defense and 3-point defense.
