3-POINT BARRAGE
George Washington broke a school record with 17 3-pointers on Wednesday at Richmond, surpassing the previous mark of 16 that had stood for 24 years since November 24, 2001 vs. Yale. Trey Autry and Tre Dinkins knocked down six 3-pointers apiece, becoming just the eighth set of teammates nationally to do so in a game this year and the first ever to do so at GW per CBB Reference.
GW is now third in the A-10 with 9.7 made 3s per game (62nd nationally) and ranks fourth in the league (58th nationally) in shooting percentage at 37.0% from beyond the arc. GW is on pace to blow past the school record of 287 made 3s in a season set two years ago. At the current rate, the Buff & Blue would surpass 300 3s for the first time in program history.
TREY'S TRES
Trey Autry's career-high six trifectas on Wednesday at Richmond led to a career-best 24 points for the junior. Autry has hit multiple threes in five-consecutive games, shooting 53.3% (16/30) over the stretch while scoring 14.8 ppg.
The three-year letterman has shown steady improvement during his GW career, shooting 34.2% (39/114) as a freshman, 38.6% (64/166) last year and now 45.9% (28/61) this year. Autry is now tied for fifth in GW's record book in career 3-point percentage (38.4%) and his 131 career 3s rank 13th all-time.
A LOOK AT THE EXPLORERS
Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Darris Nichols, the Explorers have struggled to a 4-10 mark and have dropped their last four games, including an 80-75 loss to George Mason Wednesday. La Salle was picked 13th in the league's preseason poll after hiring Nichols from Radford to replace legendary Head Coach Fran Dunphy.
The Explorers are last in the A-10, and 339th nationally, in scoring offense at 66.9 ppg and play the second-slowest tempo in the league, 329th nationally. La Salle has been great at generating extra chances, though, ranking second in the A-10 with 13.2 offensive rebounds per game.
Niagara transfer Jaedan Marshall paces La Salle with 12.9 ppg and has shot 91.1% from the charity stripe. Jerome Brewer Jr. is the lone other double-digit scorer at 10.7 ppg, and returned to the lineup on Wednesday after missing five games and scored 21 points in the loss to George Mason.
