WASHINGTON – The George Washington tennis team is set to welcome three newcomers to Foggy Bottom for the 2025-26 season. Laziza Talipova, Devika Manu and Alexandra Lindqvist will arrive at GW this fall.
Laziza Talipova
Hailing from Orlando, Fla., Talipova holds the record for most career wins at Trinity Prep High School. Leading both on and off the court, Laziza led the varsity team as their number one singles and doubles player all four years of her career and served as the team captain in her senior season. She helped lead Trinity Prep to a District Runner-Up finish and captured individual District and Regional Championships in number one singles and doubles to advance to the FHSAA State Championship.
"I chose GW because it offers a perfect balance of competitive college tennis and strong academics," Talipova said. "The location in D.C. provides amazing opportunities both on and off the court, including access to internships and cultural experiences. GW's commitment to excellence in athletics and education will help me grow as both a student and an athlete. I'm excited to be part of a supportive team environment while pursuing my academic goals."
Talipova is no stranger to the spotlight after being named to the Orlando Sentinel All-Area Team twice. She's a three-time Athlete of the Week honoree and the Team MVP awardee twice in her high school career.
Outside of her high school accolades, Talipova won the 105th American Tennis Association National Championships in the Girls' 16 division. She also competed internationally in the ITF J5 Puerto Rico and the ITF JS U.S. Virgin Islands, winning matches in both events during the main draw. She's trained at T2 Academy in Germany and learned to speak four different languages during her time traveling the world.
Devika Manu
Manu, a native of Boyds, Md., joins the Revolutionaries after a standout prep career. The four-star recruit, according to the Tennis Recruiting Network, was in the top 200 recruits in her class and was also ranked within the top 200 of TennisRPI during her high school career as well. She's also the second-rated recruit in the state of Maryland for the class of 2025 and the 24th-rated prospect in the Middle Atlantic Region.
"I chose George Washington because of its incredible tennis program and amazing academic opportunities," Manu said. "I really loved the campus and felt a great connection with everyone I met. I'm looking forward to spending the next four years at GW!"
During her amateur career, Manu has posted an impressive 46 wins against ranked opponents. She holds one victory over a five-star prospect, 11 over four-stars, 25 over three-stars, eight over two-stars and one over a one-star player. In matches against three-star or lower competition, she holds an astounding 34-3 record in singles play, cementing herself as a top-tier high school talent.
Alexandra Lindqvist
Lindqvist joins the Revolutionaries after putting together a stellar prep career in Europe. A native of Sweden, Linqvist has recorded a 23-8 record in International Tennis Federation (ITF) singles matches, while also recording a 13-9 mark in ITF doubles play. She currently ranks in the top 700 for junior players in the world as well. She was also the 2024 doubles champion in the J60 Bastad, her only ITF Tournament victory.
"I choose GW because of the unbelievable opportunity to continue my tennis career and academics at a high level," said Lindqvist. "I am so excited to start with the program next fall and to improve myself and meet my new teammates. Also, I'm excited to learn from coach Rodriquez and I know he will help me achieve my goals."
Lindqvist will complete her final junior year in Europe before arriving in Foggy Bottom next season.
