STEALING OPPORTUNITY
The Revolutionaries are tops in the A-10, and 18th nationally, with 9.3 swipes per contest. GW's steal rate is 15th in the NCAA, taking the ball away on 13.4% of opponent's possessions. GW's 259 steals are the sixth-most in a single season in program history. The Buff & Blue are on pace to finish with the second-most in a single year ever, behind only 306 steals in the 1998-99 season.
GW has recorded at least eight steals in 24 of its 28 games, including 11 games with double-digit thefts, and matched a season-high with 14 on Jan. 15 vs. Duquesne. The 11 games with double-digit steals by the Buff & Blue represent the most in a season for the program since doing so 14 times during the 2006-07 campaign.
Individually, nine different Revolutionaries have double-digit steals and the Buff & Blue are tied for fifth nationally with six different players averaging at least 1.0 steal per game.
HISTORY VS. LOYOLA CHICAGO
GW and Loyola Chicago meet for the third time as A-10 foes with the road team having won the first two matchups. Overall, Loyola Chicago has a slim 4-3 lead in the seven all-time meetings.
The Buff & Blue topped LUC in the Ramblers' first-ever A-10 game on Dec. 31, 2022 in its lone trip to Gentile Arena behind a virtuoso 40-point performance from James Bishop IV. Last year, Loyola Chicago erased a seven-point deficit in the final five minutes to win at the Smith Center, 81-73.
Prior to last season, the two programs had not met since the 1938-39 season. GW and Loyola Chicago met five times from 1936-39 with the Ramblers taking three of the five meetings.
A LOOK AT THE RAMBLERS
Loyola Chicago has turned the corner in the month of February, winning four straight and six of its last seven games to vault up to third in the A-10 standings at 9-5. The Ramblers opened the season 9-1 before dropping five of six while dealing with a rash of injuries. Since Jan. 15, though, Loyola has lost just once in regulation.
Des Watson and Jayden Dawson share the team lead in scoring with 13.1 ppg while Sheldon Edwards Jr. is the third double-figure scorer with 12.3 ppg while leading the A-10 among qualifiers in 3-point shooting at 39.1%. Dawson was named A-10 Player of the Week last week and was averaging 24.7 ppg on 53% 3-point shooting (17/32) before being limited to five points last time out while battling foul trouble.
Loyola has been the top 3-point shooting team during league play at 36.2% and shares the ball better than any other team with assists on 61% of their made shots. Inside, Miles Rubin leads the A-10 and ranks 13th nationally with 62 blocks on the campaign.
