Meet begins Saturday in Baltimore, concludes with Senior Day at Smith on Sunday
WASHINGTON - The George Washington University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the final dual meet of the year, a two-day, split-location meet against the UMBC Retrievers. The meet begins on Saturday in Baltimore (1:00 p.m.), before returning to the Smith Center on Sunday (10:00 a.m.), where the Revolutionaries will honor 13 graduating student-athletes on Senior Day.
SENIOR DAY
GW swimming and diving is excited to honor 13 of its graduating members during a pre-meet Senior Day ceremony on Sunday: Taylor Bernosky, Justin Clark, Jules Fifer, Moriah Freitas, Chloe Hernandez, Elliott Irwin, Julia Knox, Kaylin McCormick, Philip Moldovanu, Dara Reyblat, Connor Rodgers, Olivia Rosen and Molly Smyers.
Fans and guests are encouraged to arrive at the Smith Center Pool by 9:30 a.m. for the start of the ceremony.
BOUSHEE EARNS CONFERENCE RECOGNITION
For the second time this season, first-year IM and freestyle specialist Gage Boushee was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week, following GW's dual meet success over Georgetown. Boushee earned the recognition by posting a pair of top-three finishes, which included a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with the eighth-fastest time in the A-10 this season.
ABOUT UMBC
From the America East, UMBC comes to battle this weekend with plenty of head-to-head competition already under its belt. The women's team is 3-3 against other squads this year, picking up wins over American, VMI and Saint Peter's, and falling to Navy, William & Mary and La Salle. Against the same competition, the Retriever men have gone 4-2, with the only different result coming in their most recent meet with a win over La Salle.
The Retrievers are coming off a 2024 American East Championship performance in which the men finished in third and the women in fourth.
ROAD TO A-10s
The long and winding road to A-10s is nearing its end, as after this weekend's meet vs. UMBC, only one competition stands in the way between GW and another shot at dual A-10 Championships; the Cavalier Invitational on Feb. 7-8, in Charlottesville, Va.
The Atlantic 10 Championships begin Feb. 19 and run through Feb. 22 at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.
