Volleyball Set for Final Weekend of Non-Conference Matchups

WASHINGTON-Â GW volleyball is set for its final matchups of non-conference action, traveling to Dover, Del., to face NJIT for a 4:00 p.m. match on Friday. On Saturday, the GW Revs will then face host Delaware State at 1:30 p.m. and Harvard at 4 p.m. to conclude the Delaware State Tournament.Â

WEEK REWIND
The Revolutionaries emerged from the DC Showdown 2-1, claiming victories over Rider and IU Indianapolis and falling to Georgetown. Notably, first-year Taylor Treahy and sophomore Haylee Brown claimed all-tournament recognition following their stellar performances over the weekend.Â

NJIT enters the weekend 4-9 following a 3-1 loss to Penn on Tuesday evening. First-year Ema Torres leads the Highlanders with 101 kills, 23 blocks and seven service aces. Joining Torres' efficiency are Sara Siefert, Aries Fontaine and Ines Varela, who have each registered 70 or more kills this season. A full breakdown of NJIT's season statistics can be found here.

Host school Delaware State enters the tournament following a Wednesday evening matchup with Maryland. The Hornets are 2-7 through three weeks of the 2024 campaign, and are led by Head Coach David Brooks. In his second season at the helm of the program, Brooks will look to capitalize on the 17-13 finish in 2023. This is the fourth meeting between the Revolutionaries and the Hornets, and GW will look to improve to 3-1 all-time against Delaware State. Full 2024 season stats for DSU can be found here.Â

The Harvard Crimson enter the weekend 4-2, most recently claiming victory over Northern Illinois, 3-1, at the Art Carmichael Invitational. Brynne Faltinsky leads the offensive charge with 80 kills across six matches. Defensively, Lindsey Zhang has chipped in 88 digs and Ryleigh Patterson has tallied 26 blocks.
