Volleyball Sweeps NJIT in Dominating Fashion

Dover, Del.- The George Washington University Volleyball team claimed a dominating victory over NJIT Friday afternoon in three sets, 26-24, 25-12, 25-19.

Leading the charge on offense were seniors MC Daubendiek and Salem Yohannes who ended the afternoon with 12 kills apiece. Amina Robinson chipped in five service aces, while Grace Allread and Abby Markworth set the tempo for the attack with 21 assists each.
First-years Cayla Cogan and Abby Markworth also earned their first career start in the Buff & Blue. Notably, GW's offense earned an impressive 51 kills across three sets to tally a .365 hitting percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Points were exchanged between the two teams in the opening frame. Three lead changes and seven tied scores eventually led to a thrilling 26-24 victory in favor of the Revolutionaries.
Using their momentum, GW quickly pulled ahead in the second, claiming a swift lead over the Highlanders. With an impressive offensive efficiency of .424, the Buff & Blue claimed set two, 25-12, over NJIT.
The Revolutionaries once again claimed an early lead in the third, but the Highlanders fought back to narrow the lead. Despite these efforts from NJIT, GW did not surrender their lead in the final stanza, claiming a sweeping victory in three.
UP NEXT
GW will return to action tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. as it prepares to take on host Delaware State. Following the 1:30 p.m. match, GW will then face the Harvard Crimson at 4 p.m. to conclude the tournament.
