George Washington volleyball continued its win streak in the Battle of the Beltway tournament this weekend in a match against the University of Maryland Baltimore County. In Saturday afternoon's matchup, the GW Revs took down the Retrievers in a hard-fought 3-1 contest (25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18).

The GW Revs and the Retrievers traded momentum throughout the first two sets, with neither team able to establish a significant advantage for long. GW narrowly claimed the first set, 25-23, which featured efficient offensive plays on both sides. UMBC responded in the second, edging GW, 25-23, to even the match at one set apiece.

After splitting the opening two frames, GW hit .318 in the third set, producing 10 kills against only three errors. The Revolutionaries then finished the match with another strong offensive showing in the fourth set, hitting .321 while holding UMBC to a .214 hitting percentage.

Riley Samuel led GW with 12 kills, eight blocks, one ace, and 17 points, providing a consistent offensive presence throughout the four-set victory. Cayla Cogan, Yazmyn Billings and Nicanora Clarke each added at least nine kills each and a combined 9.0 blocks. As a team, GW finished with a .274 hitting percentage, 13 service aces and 14.0 blocks.
