Volleyball Takes Down Morgan State in Four for Weekend Sweep

GW volleyball completed a perfect 3-0 weekend on Sunday with a four-set win over Morgan State. The Revolutionaries improved to 4-5 after three weekends of play.Â
Morgan State got the better of the Revolutionaries in the first set behind a .216 hitting percentage and 12 kills, but from there it was all GW. After an uncharacteristic nine attacking errors in the first set for GW, the Revolutionaries improved offensively in every set, hitting .310 in the second set, .432 in the third and .448 in the fourth to secure the win.
GW dominated in sets two and four, holding Morgan State to 10 and 13 points respectively, but the Bears posed a challenge in the third set, forcing extra-points in a 31-29 GW set win. GW improved to 10-1 all-time against Morgan State with the win.Â
Cayla Cogan paced the Buff & Blue with 20 kills in the match, supported by Nicanora Clarke with 18 kills. Setter Abby Markworth dished a match-high 47 assists while also making
difference from the service line with four aces. At the net, Yazmyn Billings led the way with three blocks, while Lydia Zeng had a team-best 17 digs. Â
GW travels to Charlottesville, Va., for a midweek matchup at Virginia on Tuesday (5 p.m.), before meeting Georgetown away (Friday, 6 p.m.) and Howard at home (Saturday, 6:30 p.m.) in a pair of matchups in D.C. this weekend.Â
