Gymnastics Travels to Baton Rouge for Podium Challenge

WASHINGTON - GW gymnastics makes the trip down to Baton Rouge, La., for the Podium Challenge for a quad meet against host LSU, Auburn and Texas Woman's on Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m.
GW'S STANDING
GW is currently ranked 43rd overall in the NCAA. The Revolutionaries' season-high score is a 196.625 from the Pink/Barbie Meet at home on Friday, Feb. 16, where they placed first overall out of five teams. In team rankings per event, they rank 23rd on vault, 59th on bars, 30th on beam, and 28th (tied) on floor. Kendall Whitman is currently tied for 29th place in the NCAA on floor, and Sarah Zois is tied for 39th place in the NCAA on vault. GW's top performer is Whitman, whose season highs include a 9.900 on vault, a 9.775 on bars, a 9.875 on beam, a 9.950 on floor, and a 39.300 in the all-around.
MARYLAND QUAD MEET RECAP
GW gymnastics scored a 195.675 at the Maryland Quad Meet on Friday in a second-place finish. Host Maryland came in first with a score of 196.300. Central Michigan came in third with a score of 195.450, while William & Mary finished in fourth with a score of 193.200. GW scored a 48.075 on bars, a 49.175 on beam, 49.175 on floor and a 49.250 on vault.
Whitman took first place on floor with a score of 9.925. Zois placed first on vault with a 9.900. Maya Peters tied for first place on beam with a score of 9.925. Delaney DeHaan placed first on bars with a score of 9.750.
A LOOK AT #2 LSU, #14 AUBURN AND TEXAS WOMAN'S
In past meets, GW has been outperformed by #2 LSU in all three matchups in Baton Rouge from 2017-2023. In team rankings per event, the Tigers rank second on vault, fifth on bars, fourth on beam and first on floor. The top performer for the Tigers has been Haleigh Bryant, whose season highs include a 9.975 on vault, a 10.000 on bars, a 10.000 on beam, a 10.000 on floor and a 39.850 in the all-around. LSU is coming off of a dual-meet win on Friday at home against #9 Alabama, with a score of 198.325.
GW has only faced #14 Auburn one time in a neutral dual meet at Maryland in 2010, when they came in second with a score of 192.100. In team rankings per event, they rank 16th on vault, 24th on bars, 10th on beam and 17th on floor. The top performer for the season has been Cassie Stevens, whose season highs include a 9.925 on vault, a 9.925 on bars, a 9.975 on beam, a 9.950 on floor and a 39.700 in the all-around. Auburn finished in second place in its dual meet against #20 Georgia in Athens this past Friday with a score of 196.900.Â
GW has outperformed Texas Women's in both meets they have participated against them. Texas Woman's is currently ranked 53rd overall in the NCAA. In team rankings per event, the Pioneers rank 48th on both vault and floor, 51st on bars and 60th on beam. The top performer for the season has been Steelie King, whose season highs include a 9.850 on vault, a 9.675 on bars, a 9.875 on beam, a 9.875 on floor and a 39.125 in the all-around. The Pioneers placed third in their quad meet against #1 Oklahoma, Clemson and Penn this past Saturday at home with a season-high score of 196.275.
