Golf Ties for Fifth at Daytona Beach Intercollegiate

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -Â GW golf began the stroke play portion of its spring season this week at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate, hosted by Stetson University at the LPGA International Hills Course. While dealing with difficult scoring conditions, the Buff & Blue ended up in a tie for fifth at the event with a 34-over 898.
GW received a pair of top-10 performances from Jakub Hrinda and Jed Dy, who each tied for ninth with six-over 222s. Hrinda posted the lowest round of the week with a 2-under 70 in the opening 18 while Dy came back to the pack with an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish out his tournament. Dy also carded the Revolutionaries' lowest score in Monday's second round with a 2-over 74.
Leo Xu provided an under-par round to his own credit on Tuesday, firing a 1-under 71 to finish the tournament on a strong note. GW posted its best team round as well in the final 18 with a 3-over 291.
The host Hatters won the title with a 7-over 871, 15 shots better than Troy and Longwood, who tied for second place.Â
