Phoebe Mullarkey sets career high with 5 goals
WASHINGTON – GW lacrosse picked up its first win of the season versus Howard on Friday, topping the Bison 21-7.
Haley Bolton scored the first goal of the game in the first two minutes of play, sparking a GW offense that would keep a wide lead in the opening quarter to bring the score to 8-1. Phoebe Mullarkey and Haley Bolton each scored a pair of goals in the first quarter, with Amelia Moran, Kiki Rotay, Everly Kessler, and Desiree Kleberg all adding a goal to bring the GW Revs lead up to 8. Howard attack Layla Collins added a goal with 25 seconds left in the opening quarter, bringing the score to 8-1 at the end.
GW added seven goals in the second quarter, with the Bison tallying only one goal, widening the GW lead to 13 heading into halftime at 15-2.
In the third quarter, GW only netted three goals but still maintained a 15-point lead up until the last five minutes of the third with a goal from Howard, ending the third quarter with a score of 18-4.
While only netting three goals in the final 15 minutes of play, GW's established lead pushed them to a fifth-place tied all-time team record of 21 points, making the final score of the day 21-7.
