Mia Caro makes nine saves in net
WASHINGTON – After a successful season opener on Friday, GW women's lacrosse fell to Canisius on Sunday with a score of 11-6.
GW and Canisius traded goals to begin the opening quarter, with Haley Bolton scoring one goal for GW.
In the second quarter, three different goal scorers put GW within one at 5-4 before Bailey Aaron added another goal to tie the score into halftime, 5-5.
GW went goalless in the third quarter, but four more goals from Canisius padded the visitor's lead, putting GW in a 9-5 hole after three.
A single-goal fourth quarter for the Buff & Blue wouldn't be enough to stop an active Canisius offense, with GW dropping its first game of the season 11-6.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Bailey Aaron and Everly Kessler each had two unassisted goals.
- Senior transfer Chamberlaine Bell scored her first goal in the Buff & Blue.
- GW led in number of shots 27-24.
- First-year Olivia Chesla made her first start of her collegiate career.
- Mia Caro made the start, playing the full 60 minutes in net for the Buff & Blue and made nine saves.
