Phoebe Mullarkey led team in number of goals and shots
WASHINGTON – GW lacrosse was handed its second loss of the season in its first away game of the season, falling to UMBC on Saturday, 12-4.
While GW went goalless in the first quarter, UMBC found the back of the net four times to lead 4-0 after one.
In the second quarter, Phoebe Mullarkey scored two goals to get GW on the board, but the Retrievers maintained the lead with a five point-lead at halftime, 7-2.
Everly Kessler got the lone goal for GW in the third quarter, but three more goals from UMBC padded the home team's lead, putting GW in a 10-3 hole after three.
Another goal for the Buff & Blue by Desiree Kleberg wasn't enough to contain the aggressive UMBC offense in the fourth quarter, with GW dropping its second game of the season.
NOTEWORTHY:

- Mia Caro made the start, playing the full 60 minutes in net for the Buff & Blue.
