Lacrosse Hosts American for Wednesday Matinee

Opening draw scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Lacrosse Field
WASHINGTON – GW lacrosse will host American for a 1 p.m. matinee on Wednesday at the Mount Vernon Lacrosse Field. Live coverage will be available on ESPN+.
HISTORY WITH THE EAGLES
The Revolutionaries fell 16-5 at American in 2023. Over the years, GW lacrosse has triumphed more often than not against American, winning 10 out of the 16 matchups against the Eagles from 2007-2023.Â
UMBC RECAP
GW was handed its second loss of the season in its first away game of the season, falling to UMBC on Saturday, 12-4. Phoebe Mullarkey scored two goals, both unassisted. Mullarkey also led the team in goals and shots. GW led in number of saves, 11-4. Goalkeeper Mia Caro made the start, playing the full 60 minutes in net for the Buff & Blue.Â

Everly Kessler and Phoebe Mullarkey lead the team in goals with seven goals each. Kessler also leads the team with four assists. Haley Bolton and Stella Ray lead the team in draw controls with 14 DCs apiece. Stella Ray leads the team in accumulated ground balls (6).Â
SCOUTING AMERICAN
The Eagles (1-2) are coming off a Friday afternoon 15-5 loss against #7 Loyola Maryland. Preseason All-League selection Hannah Spease leads the team with a SOG% of .875 and is in a three-way tie for the most goals on the team this season alongside Reagan Murdoch and Maddy Spratt. Spease also leads the team in accumulated ground balls (8) and draw controls (7). American had a final record of 6-10 in 2023.
