GW lacrosse dropped its first conference matchup of the season to Saint Joseph's on Wednesday afternoon, 15-9. With the loss, GW moves to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in A-10 action.
The Hawks opened the game with four unanswered goals before the Revolutionaries got to work to close the gap with three of their own in the first. The hosts then continued a 7-1 run across the second and into the third before George Washington could respond with three-straight goals from senior Grace Curry to close the deficit to four, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback attempt.
Curry continued her scoring fury, pacing GW with six goals to earn her 100th career goal and move her season total to 48 goals, just six shy of the program's record of 54 goals in a single season. Joining Curry in the scoring column were defending Rookie of the Week Mia Milkowski with two goals and sophomore Mimi Walters with one. Kiki Rotay and Parker Febo led the Revolutionaries with two assists apiece.
George Washington picked up 16 ground balls and caused nine turnovers, led by reigning Defensive Player of the Week Stella Ray, who forced four. Ray and Daisen Iwan combined for seven of GW's eight draw controls in the circle, and Gabi Greth earned 12 saves in the cage, matching her season high.
The Revolutionaries now direct their attention to hosting the Davidson Wildcats, set for noon on Saturday at the Vern on ESPN+.
