WASHINGTON - Back from a winning trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands, GW men's basketball closes out November with a Black Friday matinee against VMI. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN+. With a win, GW would move to 7-1 for the first time since 2015-16, when it went on to win the NIT Championship.
Tickets for all November and December home games are now 50% off as part of the Black Friday Ticket Deal, which runs through November 30. Purchase your tickets today.
DOMINATING THE NON-CON
GW sits at 6-1 for the second-straight year, doing so in consecutive campaigns for the first time since the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. Over the last two seasons, the Buff & Blue are 19-3 with two of the three losses coming to Power 4 teams, and all three being away from home. GW has won 14 straight non-conference home games since 2022.
AUTRY CATCHES FIRE
Sophomore Trey Autry found his shooting stroke over the last two games of the Paradise Jam, scoring a career-high 16 points vs. Louisiana and matching the total vs. Illinois State. Autry knocked down 8-of-10 3-pointers in the two games, going 3-for-3 vs. Louisiana and 5-for-7 vs. Illinois State. Six of the eight triples and 25 of his 32 points came in the game's second halves.
On the year, Autry is now 46.4% from beyond the arc (13-of-28) after starting the campaign 5-of-18 (27.8%) in the first four games. Autry has nearly doubled his scoring output from a year ago (5.4 to 9.9) and has already reached double figures more times this year (four) than he did all of last season (three).
SECOND HALF TEAM
GW utilized big second half rallies in each of its two wins at the Paradise Jam over the weekend. The Buff & Blue are averaging 45.0 points per half after intermission compared to 34.0 points per half in the first 20 minutes. As a result, GW has outscored opponents by 62 points in the second half (+8.9 per game) compared to 13 points in the first half (+1.9 per game).
GW has gone a 10-0 run or better after halftime in six of its first seven games with the lone exception being the Illinois State win when the Revs scored 37 points on their final 19 possessions and outscored the Redbirds 40-19 in the final 12 minutes.
A LOOK AT THE KEYDETS
Virginia Military Institute visits Smith Center for the first time in nearly a decade on Friday, coming in with a mark of 4-4. The Keydets have lost three-straight games, and four of five, after a 3-0 start that featured wins over Bellarmine as well as non-DI foes Washington College and Christendom.
VMI features a pair of double-digit scorers in Lipscomb transfer TJ Johnson at 15.8 ppg and Indiana State transfer Augustinas Kiudulas at 15.7 ppg. Ricky Bradley Jr. averages 9.6 ppg and had a team-high 22 points in Tuesday's 70-67 loss at Loyola (MD).
