HOW IT HAPPENED
Characteristic of postseason action, the opening frame was tightly contested, but Davidson would narrowly out-hit the Revolutionaries 16-15 to claim an opening victory at 25-21.
In the second, the Buff & Blue jumped ahead early to shift the momentum away from Davidson. The 'Cats tied things up at seven each. The middle portion of the sequence was a back-and-forth, with each team thwarting the other's attempt at an advantage. Late in the set, GW would pull ahead off crafty offense from Head Coach Katie Reifert's squad to claim the second set at 25-20.
Starting the third, GW scrambled to keep up with Davidson, falling back to an 8-1 deficit. Not giving up the fight, the Revolutionaries fought back to keep things close to even with the Wildcats for the majority of the third. Despite the GW Revs' comeback, Davidson would claim a two-set lead over GW at 25-21 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, the 'Cats got ahead early once again, but GW did not back down easily. The Buff & Blue were able to sway the lead in its favor twice, but ultimately efforts were unsuccessful as Davidson claimed the match on a 25-19 set victory.
