GW Volleyball alumna Katie Reifert has led the volleyball program since 2022 as the tenth coach in program history.
In her first three seasons at the helm, Reifert has led the Buff & Blue to two A-10 tournament appearances and coached four student-athletes to earn All-Conference recognition from the Atlantic 10.
Reifert returned to GW after most recently being named the head men's volleyball coach at Lawrence Tech. At Lawrence Tech, Reifert worked to rebuild the program and signed 13 newcomers to the Blue Devils' roster over six months.
Before Lawrence Tech, Reifert was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the Brown University volleyball program from 2018-20. In 2019, Reifert helped lead Brown to its most wins (13) and first winning season (13-10) since 2001, a record that improved the program's RPI by 61 places. In that season, Reifert guided three student-athletes to all-conference recognition. In her first year with the Bears in 2018, Reifert helped assist the team to its most wins (11) since 2014, before surpassing that mark the following year.
As the recruiting coordinator, Reifert assisted in the scouting and commitment of 14 student-athletes throughout her three seasons, six of whom received all-league honors with a player of the year recognition. The Bears' 2020 first-year class was considered a top-30 recruiting class in PrepVolleyball.com's rankings.
Prior to her time at Brown, Reifert spent four seasons (2014-18) at the helm of the men's and women's volleyball programs at Illinois Tech. Reifert led the women's team to back-to-back appearances in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship in 2016 and 2017. Under Reifert's direction, the women's program went from placing outside of the top-20 in the USCAA to earning a top-10 finish in 2017. She also coached five USCAA All-Americans and the 2017 USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year.
After much success with the women's program, Reifert was named inaugural head coach of the men's Scarlet Hawks program and began to build the program from its infancy in the fall of 2015. Throughout her three seasons as head coach, Reifert helped improve the team's overall record each season and led it to its first double-figure win total in program history in 2018.
Before arriving at Illinois Tech, Reifert spent one season at Loyola University Maryland as the lead assistant coach, where she helped plan and run practices, meetings and film sessions. In addition, Reifert was an integral part of the team's match preparation, where she worked to create detailed scouting reports.
Reifert was a four-year starter at middle blocker for GW from 2007-10 and served as a team captain during her senior season. In 2010, Reifert was named to the Atlantic 10's Second Team after finishing second overall in the conference with her .357 hitting percentage. Reifert was also named Team MVP and GW's Offensive Player of the Year. Reifert is fifth all-time in GW's record book with a .282 hitting percentage across her four seasons.
Reifert spent time playing professionally in Europe, where she competed in the Professional International Federation of Volleyball for Kuusamo Pallo-Karhut (Finland) in 2012. She also was a middle blocker for Switzerland's top league, FC Luzern, in 2014.
