Volleyball Takes Down VCU in Five

WASHINGTON- Fighting hard through five sets, the GW volleyball team bounced back to take down the VCU Rams on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Revolutionaries evened the series and moved to 15-11 with an 8-6 mark in conference play.

- VCU won the opener in extras, 26-24.
- The second set was all Buff & Blue, claiming a swift 25-16 victory.
- The momentum stayed with GW in the third, 25-21, but VCU fought in the fourth to again even the match, 25-18.
- In the deciding set, the two teams battled through seven ties and four lead changes, but it was GW who came out on top to claim the match with a 15-11 mark.
- Cayla Cogan powered down a career-high 18 kills to fuel the offense with 20 points, and Alexis Rodriguez (10) and Cianna Tejada (12) each hit in double-figures. Rodriguez added in 15 digs for a double-double performance.
- Abby Markworth dished out 44 assists to guide the team to 57 kills and a .224 hitting percentage.
- The backcourt combined for 64 digs, led by Rodrigeuz's 15.
- At the net, Tejada combined on nine blocks.
