Final-Round Flurry Places Golf T-7th at RedHawk Intercollegiate

PITTSBURGH -Â GW golf fired its best round of the fall campaign in Tuesday's final 18 at the RedHawk Intercollegiate, climbing the rankings to finish in a tie for seventh place at the Pittsburgh Field Club.
GW's team score of 275 on Tuesday marked the lowest for the program this fall and tied for the third-best in program history. It also was the lowest round of the day on Tuesday among the 16 teams by five shots and allowed GW to post an 11-over 863 for the tournament. Marquette topped the field with a 16-under 836.
All five Revolutionaries - Aksel Moe (-5, 66), Adam Bencik (-2, 69), Rodrigo Barahona (-1, 70), Philippe Thorin (-1, 70) and Benjamin Garcia Moreira (E, 71) - shot even par or better in the round with Moe and Thorin carding an eagle in their respective rounds. Garcia carded a trio of 71s to lead GW with an even-par 213 to finish in a tie for 19th. Bencik and Thorn finished in a tie for 38th with 6-over 219s thanks to their under-par efforts on Tuesday.Â
Moe, receiving his first start of the year in place of top contributor Manuel Barbachano, bounced back from an opening 81 to shoot 66 in the final round, the second-best individual round of the day.
