"STRETCH"ING HIS DEFENSE
Babatunde Akingbola tallied five more blocks last week vs. George Mason, giving him 60 on the season, second-most in the NCAA. Akingbola has blocked four or more shots nine times in a game this season, including four of the last six contests.
A grad transfer from Auburn, Akingbola is second nationally with 3.3 blocks per game and is on pace to blow the current GW record (84 by fellow Nigerian Yinka Dare in 1992-93) out of the water, averaging 0.5 more blocks per game than Dare did in his record year. Through 18 games, Akingbola is already tied for fourth on the GW single-season blocks record board with his 60 swats and needs three more to surpass Jason Smith (2001-02) for third place.
As a team, GW is eighth nationally with 5.7 blocks per game.

FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS
A year after leading the A-10 in scoring with 76.3 ppg, GW is back on top of the circuit at 81.8 ppg, good enough for 32nd in the NCAA. The 81.8 ppg would rank as the fourth-best scoring output in program history and the most since averaging 83.0 ppg in 1969-70.
GW is also in the top-100 nationally in 3-point percentage (19th), 3s per game (36th), effective FG percentage (67th), free throw percentage (75th) and overall field goal percentage (99th). The Buff & Blue are 13-2 when shooting at least 50% under Coach Caputo and are also 17-2 when scoring at least 80 points.
A LOOK AT THE SPIDERS
Richmond is red-hot entering play on Wednesday, having won eight-straight games and sitting at a perfect 5-0 overall. The Spiders are looking for its first-ever 6-0 start to A-10 play and are looking for their first ever 10-0 start at home.
ETSU transfer Jordan King has thrived in his first year at Richmond, ranking second in the league with 18.3 ppg. Neal Quinn (13.1 ppg) and Isaiah Bigelow (11.2 ppg) are the two other double-figure scorers for the Spiders.
Richmond has been elite on the defensive end of the floor, ranking 39th in adjusted defensive efficiency and 21st in defensive effective field goal percentage. The Spiders rank 28th nationally, holding opponents to 64.4 points per game, and are also 30th in the NCAA in 3-point defense, limiting foes to 29.7% beyond the arc.
