Volleyball Heads to NC State for Midweek Match

WASHINGTON – Looking to extend its two-match win streak, GW volleyball heads to NC State on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. first serve vs. the Wolfpack, with live coverage available on ACCNX.
DC SHOWDOWN RECAP
GW went 2-1 in its home opening weekend, topping Old Dominion and Georgetown for the team's first pair of wins in 2023. As a team, GW had its most efficient match of the season on Saturday, putting down 45 kills and hitting .244. On Friday, GW tallied a season-high 60 kills in its four-set matchup with Old Dominion.
Grace Wiczek was an offensive threat for the Buff & Blue across the weekend, tallying a career-best 17 kills vs. ODU on Friday and pouring on 11 more in Saturday's win. Brittany Myers contributed 14 kills against the Monarchs, a season-best for the outside hitter who leads the team with 66 kills this season. Â
Defensively, Penelope Hiepler was the designated libero across the weekend and came up with a career-high 16 digs against the Hoyas. On Friday, the sophomore libero reached another career-high with nine assists.
ACROSS THE NETÂ
NC State is 8-1 overall and rides a seven-match win streak heading into a Tuesday night matchup vs. Charlotte before welcoming GW on Wednesday. Ava Brizard leads the Pack and the ACC with 128 kills, averaging 3.66/set. Led by Kristen McDaniel with 227, NC State leads the ACC with 422 assists at 12.06/set and is second in the league with 448 kills on the year.
