Opening draw from Cary Street Field set for Thursday at noon
WASHINGTON – Following a season that featured the most conference wins for the program since 2013, GW lacrosse will make its second-straight appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday, matching up with No. 4 Davidson at noon from Cary Street Field in Richmond, Va. Live coverage of this year's Championship will be available on ESPN+.
In Head Coach Colleen McCaffrey's first season leading the program, GW tallied five regular season conference wins, the most since the 2013 season, and six wins overall, the most since 2018.
LAST TIME OUTÂ
Behind a season-high 22 goals, GW topped St. Bonaventure, 22-11, on Senior Day. Graduate students Kerry McKeever and Whitney Moran made their last game at the GW Lacrosse Field memorable, tallying six goals apiece to lead all scorers. It was the second time this season that McKeever has pocketed six, matching her effort in the team's commanding win over Delaware State earlier this season. GW had nine different goal scorers, including Katelyn Walker's second-straight hat trick. The senior also tallied three assists and scooped up three ground balls.
DYNAMIC DUOÂ
In their lone season with the Buff & Blue, McKeever and Moran started all 17 regular season contests for GW and have combined to score 84 of GW's 180 goals this season. McKeever's team-leading 46 goals ties her for third overall in program history in a single season, needing one goal to tie Rachel Mia for second overall. Moran can crack the program's top 10 with a pair of markers on Thursday, which would put her at the 40-goal mark.
